Hello.. My name is Helen,
I have spent my whole career working alongside young people and their families. First as a primary school teacher, then moving into supporting care experienced children in foster care, before moving into alternative provision.
My passion remains to ensure all young people feel listened to, valued, and nurtured. I endeavour to guide and support them by helping to build their personal toolkit of coping strategies. I aim to help them recognise and have faith in their own individual journey towards developing, embracing and recognising their uniqueness.
Returning to Devon, having raised my three children, has allowed me to immerse myself in a whole host of new activities including; paddle boarding, tap dancing and joining a samba band.
In my spare time I will inevitably be on the beach, in the water, enjoying a hot chocolate with friends, or dancing to live music.
My favourite quote is one by Maya Angelou, she wisely said;
‘I’ve learnt that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel’
And this sums up how I try to live my life. I still make plenty of mistakes, but I always try hard to be as kind as I can be to others, and I live my life as authentically as possible.
I am so excited to work for Esteem team and getting to meet lots of new people.
